CONSIDERATION OF LOCAL APPOINTMENTS TO THE CITY'S COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS; AND/OR CITY COUNCIL SUB-COMMITTEES; AND/OR CITY-AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS BY MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

This item is on the agenda to consider appointments and/or removals of commissioners, committee and board members in accordance with the City Charter, Article VI; and/or Council member assignments and/or removals to the City Council Sub-Committees (SC); and/or City-Affiliated Organizations by Mayor and City Council.
At the February 16, 2021 City Council Regular Meeting, the Mayor and City Council approved the Commissions, Committees and Boards Consolidations Ad Hoc Committee's (comprised of Mayor Davis-Holmes and Mayor Pro Tem Dear) recommendation to eliminate by minute order the following Council Sub-committees: 1) Accountability, Ethics & Policy/UUT Outreach Standing Committee; 2) Education/Technology/Stroke Center/Senior Technology Standing Committee; 3) Pension Obligations Bond Ad Hoc Committee; 4) Rules of Decorum Ad Hoc Committee; 5) Diamond Ball Field Ad Hoc Committee; and 6) Complete Count Ad Hoc Committee.
At the same meeting, the Mayor and City Council directed staff to conduct a workshop on Governance prior to the first meeting in March.
At the March 2, 2021 City Council Regular Meeting, the City Council approved the creation of the Short Term Rentals Ad Hoc Committee comprised of Council Members Hicks and Hilton. Also, the City Council approved the formation of the E-Commerce Ad Hoc Committee comprised of Mayor Davis-Holmes and Council Member Hicks (Exhibit No. 1).
As a point of clarification, the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District trustee appointments and terms are governed by the State Health and Safety Code. The current delegate's term expires January 2022. Moreover, the State Health and Safety Code does not allow for alternate membe...
