CONSIDER ACCEPTING AS COMPLETE PROJECT NO. 1470 AND 1601: HEMINGWAY PARK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Project 1470 and 1601: Hemingway Park Improvements consisted of endeavors that included renovation of the snack bar roof, the community room, ball field leveling, and installation of a rubberized surface for the playground. This project in now considered complete, in accordance with the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District Project Agreement Letter (Exhibit No. 1). Tonight, staff is requesting that the City Council accept the work as complete, and authorize the filing of the Notice of Completion.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. ACCEPT as complete Project 1470 and 1601: Hemingway Park Improvements.
2. AUTHORIZE staff to file a Notice of Completion.

2. TAKE another action the City Council deems appropriate.


IV. BACKGROUND

Hemingway Park is located at 700 E. Gardena Boulevard, at the intersection of Avalon Boulevard and Gardena Boulevard. On April 15, 2008, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 08-057 (Exhibit No. 2), approving the application for grant funds from the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District. The original application was for Carson Park and Hemingway Park playing field refurbishments.
On April 21, 2014, the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District (District) approved Grant No. 58B8-08-2459 in the amount of $253,000.00. The goal of this project was to provide an enhanced recreational experience for the community.
