I. SUMMARY

Public Works is requesting City Council approval to purchase one new Digital Traffic Jet Printer, Vinyl Cutter and Traffic Jet Laminator in the amount of $73,031.12 through a purchase order with Avery Dennison Corp. (Exhibit No. 3)


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. AWARD a purchase agreement to Avery Dennison Corp. in the amount of $73,031.12 for the purchase of a Digital Traffic Jet Printer, Vinyl Cutter, and Traffic Jet Laminator.

IV. BACKGROUND

The equipment listed for purchase will allow the City of Carson's Sign Shop to produce full digital color printing for street signs. This equipment will replace the single-color vinyl cutter used for 18 years and will allow printing of full-color signs and multi-colored logos and images.
The City's sign shop receives several requests for multi-colored grant signs with government and company logos that are impossible to produce with the existing, single-color vinyl system. This digital printer system will save the city approximately $13.36 per sign in labor and material costs. The sign shop maintains all street names, regulatory guides, and warning signs throughout the City of Carson. Replacement requests for missing, broken, or damaged signs are received daily and this equipment will expedite sign fabrication.
