I. SUMMARY
Because of COVID-19, many residents have begun stocking up on essential items in order to avoid running out. In order to put our residents at ease about the quality of our tap water, Council has requested a report from the West Basin Municipal Water District.

On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern. On January 31, 2020, The United States Health and Human Services Secretary declared this global outbreak a public health emergency for the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on February 25, 2020 that community spread of COVID-19 was likely to occur in the United States. As a result of this reality, Americans are hoarding certain items, among them being bottled water.
