I. SUMMARY

In July, the City was notified that it had been awarded grants to be used to ultimately enhance several parks. On Thursday, July 14, 2022, staff was informed that a $4.25 million matching grant from the State of California Office of Grants & Local Services (OGALS) was awarded to improve Foisia Park (Exhibit No. 1). Unfortunately, a second application for Carriage Crest was not selected (Exhibit No. 2). On Monday July 11, 2022, the City was notified that a Measure A Technical Assistance Program (TAP) grant from the Los Angeles County Regional Parks and Open Space District (RPOSD) was given to Carson to be used to fund consulting services (Exhibit 3 & 4). These services would be used in the development of a future application for a Measure A Competitive grant.

IV. BACKGROUND
I.
On February 1, 2022, the City Council approved Resolution No. 22-017 authorizing the Carson's Application for a Land and Water Conservation grant to fund a renovation at Carriage Crest Park. Resolution No. 22-018 was also approved that permitted an application be submitted for improvements at Foisia Park Project. Later that same month, applications were submitted for both projects.

In July, the State of California, Office of Grants & Local Services (OGALS) notified staff that Foisia Park was awarded a matching grant of $4.25 million (Exhibit 1). Unfortunately, Carriage Crest was not selected and received a no awarded letter (Exhibit 2).
