CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSED GUARANTEE LETTER FROM THE CITY OF CARSON TO LA28 REGARDING THE 2028 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC GAMES BEING HELD AT DIGNITY HEALTH SPORTS PARK IN THE CITY OF CARSON (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

This item transmits the proposed “Guarantee Letter” from the City of Carson to LA28 in anticipation of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic games that will be held at Dignity Health Sports Park in the City of Carson. A copy of the Letter is included as Exhibit 1.

The City and LA28 have begun meeting to discuss preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, some of which will be held in the City of Carson at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Approval of the Guarantee Letter reiterates previous letters sent in 2016 and is the first step toward developing a municipal services agreement that will be executed between the City of Carson and LA28 in the coming years prior to the 2028 games.

Recommendation

                     APPROVE the proposed Guarantee Letter included as Exhibit 1.
