CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 23-081, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, PROCLAIMING CITY'S SUPPORT FOR VETERANS HOUSING WITHIN THE CITY OF CARSON

I. SUMMARY

This item is on the agenda at the request of Mayor Davis-Holmes and transmits Resolution 23-081 for City Council consideration to formally support more housing for veterans in Carson.
The City Council has long supported housing developments for veterans within the City of Carson. Approximately three years ago, the Veterans Village of Carson located at 21711 South Figueroa Street, with 51 units opened its doors. By adoption of this resolution, the City Council continues to support an increase in housing developments for veterans within the City of Carson.
A severe housing shortage crisis exists in California. The State Legislature has passed and adopted numerous housing laws all to expand, increase and preserve the housing stock within the State. Many United States veterans including those who reside in California and in particular in Carson, find it extremely difficult to find housing in part due to the lack of land available for affordable housing developments.
