CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 23-044 AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING A REVISED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATIONS FOR EVENT SERVICES SUPERVISOR (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

When vacancies occur, they present staff with the ideal time to enhance job specs to reflect current needs upon industry trends, technological advancements, and business evolution.  Currently, staff is presenting this updated Event Services Supervisor job spec to properly reflect City needs.

 

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No.  23-044, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING THE REVISED JOB CLASSIFIATION SPECIFICATION FOR EVENT SERVICES SUPERVISOR.”

IV.                     BACKGROUND

To be consistent with other job specifications for City supervisors, the qualifications for Event Services Supervisor are being modified.   Staff is recommending that education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

On February 14th, staff provided a redline copy of the proposed job description changes to the Carson Professionals and Supervisors Association (CPSA/SEIU 721) bargaining unit for review and concurrence.  The unit leadership has replied and is in support of the language addition for the minimum qualifications mentioned earlier.  As such, staff is seeking City Council’s approval of the revised job description and adoption of Resolution No. 23-044 amending the classification plan accordingly.
