CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND ESTIMATES FOR PROJECT NO. 1657: TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AT SIX INTERSECTIONS, AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO ADVERTISE FOR CONSTRUCTION BIDS (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Project No. 1657: Traffic Signal Installation at Six Intersections is included in the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) list for the following intersection locations: Figueroa Street at Victoria Street; Figueroa Street at 223rd Street; Figueroa Street at 234th Street; Main Street at Albertoni Street; Main Street at 220th Street; and Main Street at Victoria Street. The project plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) prepared by Parsons are available for review in the City Engineer's Office. The project is now ready for construction bid with a total estimated construction cost of $2,880,091.23.
This project is subject to the requirement of the City's Master Project Labor Agreement (PLA) and the City's Enhanced Electrical Safety Policy (EESP). The selected contractor and all subcontractors have an obligation to comply with the terms of the PLA and the EESP.
Staff requests that City Council approve the PS&E and authorize staff to advertise this project for construction bids.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:

1. APPROVE the Plans, Specification and Estimates for Project No. 1657: Traffic Signal Installation at Six Intersections.

2. AUTHORIZE staff to advertise the work and call for construction bids for Project No. 1657: Traffic Signal Installation at Six Intersections, contingent upon receipt of the Funding Agreement with Metro for the additional funds the City requested.
