Updates on recent and planned Commission activities are included below.
Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission heard and provided feedback regarding the ARPA-funded Small Business Grant and Commercial Fa?ade programs. The EDC also listened to a presentation on the revised Industrial CUP. The Major Task Events Subcommittee continued discussing the major events coming to Southern California that will be substantial economic drivers. They went on a tour of the Doubletree Hotel, Porsche Experience, and Dignity Health Sports Park with the Economic Development Strategic consultant to gather information on public facilities and provided information about ticketed events. The subcommittee also received a proposal for services to form a Tourism Improvement District.
Environmental Commission
The Environmental Commission last met on November 2, 2022, virtually using the application Microsoft Teams. The Commission received a presentation and update on the Carousel Tract from Deny Gomez, Principal Program Manager for Shell Oil Products US. Mr. Gomez provided information on the site history, site description, timeline, and implementation of the Remedial Action Plan. He explained and shared pictures of the demolition, excavation at 5 feet and at 10 feet, backfill and compaction work, Sub Slab Depressurization systems, Soil Vapor Extraction system components, and restoration work.
