SUBJECT:

Title

CONSIDER CANCELING THE AUGUST 16, 2022, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING (CITY COUNCIL)

Body

I.                     SUMMARY

This item transmits a request for City Council to consider canceling the August 16, 2022, Regular City Council Meeting by minute order. The City Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Approval of this item would cancel, or cause “to go dark,” the Regular meeting that is scheduled to occur on the third Tuesday of August 2022.

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

1.                     APPROVE canceling the August 16, 2022, Regular City Council Meeting by minute order.

Body

III.                     ALTERNATIVES

TAKE another action deemed appropriate by the City Council and that is consistent with applicable laws.

IV.                     BACKGROUND

Section 2403(A) of the Carson Municipal Code provides that regular meetings of the City Council shall be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the hour of 5:00 P.M. Section 308 of the City Charter authorizes the City Council to cancel meetings if it so desires. In the past, the City Council has chosen to cancel the second City Council meeting in the month of August when it deems appropriate.

Approval of this item would authorize a one-time cancellation of the second meeting in August 2022 that is scheduled to fall on the third Tuesday of that month. The City Council meeting schedule would resume in September 2022, with meetings on September 6 and 20.
