CONSIDER APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT AND ADOPTING RESOLUTION NO. 22-136, AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-23 GENERAL FUND BUDGET, TO ACCEPT A WELCOME CALIFORNIA FOR ALL ANIMALS GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000

I. SUMMARY

The City of Carson has been approved to receive a grant of $5,000 from the California for All Animals statewide animal shelter assistance program. City Council is now being requested to approve the Grant Agreement and adopt the budget resolution as necessary to accept the grant.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE the Grant Agreement with THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA on behalf of its Davis Campus School of Veterinary Medicine on behalf of its Koret Shelter Medicine Program. (Exhibit 1; the "Grant Agreement").

2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to sign the Grant Agreement following approval as to form by the City Attorney.

3. ADOPT Resolution No. 22-136, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-23 BUDGET TO ACCEPT THE WELCOME GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 IN CONNECTION WITH THE CALIFORNIA FOR ALL ANIMALS STATEWIDE ANIMAL SHELTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM."

IV. BACKGROUND


California for All Animals is a program that assists animal shelters statewide, providing a community of shelters across the state working toward a shared goal of matching every animal in need with the right outcome through the right care, delivered in the right place and at the right time.

Initial applications for Welcome Grants opened on February 14, 2022, and closed on March 31, 2022. All municipal shelters and private shelters with a municipal contract to shelter animals in California are eligible to apply for this grant.
