CONSIDER AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH CALIFORNIA WATERS DEVELOPMENT, INC. TO COMPLETE NEEDED FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS AT DOMINGUEZ AQUATIC CENTER, FOISIA POOL, AND HEMINGWAY AQUATIC CENTER (CITY COUNCIL).

I. SUMMARY

Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Nos. 1637, 1633, 1634, and 1673 detail facility improvements that need to be made to Dominguez Aquatic Center, Foisia Pool, and Hemingway Aquatic Center. These upgrades include, but are not limited to, the replastering and re-decking of all three sites. To commence these projects, an Invitation for Bid was released on February 17, 2022 to solicit proposals from qualified contractors. Four proposals were received by the March 03, 2022 deadline (Exhibit No. 1), and upon extensive review, California Waters Development, Inc. ("California Waters") was determined to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The City Council is asked to award a contract in a not-to-exceed amount of $1,032,128 to California Waters to complete these improvements (Exhibit No. 2).


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. AWARD a construction contract with California Waters Development, Inc. to complete needed improvements at Dominguez Aquatic Center, Foisia Pool, and Hemingway Aquatic Center in an amount not-to-exceed $1,032,128.00.
2. AUTHORIZE Mayor to execute the Agreement, following approval as to form by the City Attorney.
