Title
UPDATE AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE 55TH ANNIVERSARY PLANNING AD HOC COMMITTEE (CITY COUNCIL)

Body
I. SUMMARY

The 55th anniversary of the founding of the City of Carson will occur on February 20, 2023.
This item provides an opportunity for the 55th Anniversary Planning Ad Hoc Committee, consisting of Councilmember Hicks and Councilmember Rojas, to provide an update to City Council on current planning efforts. City Council is asked to discuss and consider selecting a logo, theme, and to allocate funding for Fiscal year 2022-2023 if desired.
The City has historically celebrated its anniversary of incorporation every five years with some number of events. There is typically a planning committee for these events consisting of volunteers and City staff.
In its preparations for the City of Carson 50th anniversary, the City Council allocated funding in the amount of $49,000 to cover estimated expenses and the City was able to co-brand many of its existing budgeted special events as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. Fundraisers were also held to supplement the $49,000 allocation.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

DISCUSS and PROVIDE direction on the selection of a logo, theme, and funding related to the City's 55th Anniversary.
