SUBJECT:
Title
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A CHANGE PURCHASE ORDER FOR THE ANNUAL COST OF THE CITY OF CARSON MEMBERSHIP WITH THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES (CITY COUNCIL)

Body
I. SUMMARY

The City of Carson is a member of the League of California Cities ("Cal Cities") and part of this membership is an annual fee paid to Cal Cities each calendar year. Pursuant to Cal Cities bylaws, annual membership dues are determined using a city's population as set forth by the California Department of Finance and typically face a slight increase each year.
This item transmits a request for City Council to approve a Change Purchase Order to pay for the annual membership invoice for 2022 in the amount of $25,586.00. Previously the invoice has been less than $24,999.99, which allows the payment to be processed by the City Manager. Because the invoice for 2022 exceeds this amount, City Council approval is required.
Cal Cities was founded in 1898 and their focus is to defend and expand local municipal control through advocacy efforts in the California Legislature, at the ballot box, in the courts, and through strategic outreach that informs and educates the public and policymakers. Cal Cities also offers education and training programs designed to teach city officials about new developments in their field and exchange solutions to shared challenges facing their cities.
