CONSIDER APPROVAL TO AMEND BLANKET A PURCHASE ORDER FOR TOM MALLOY CORPORATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000

I. SUMMARY
City Council approval is requested to authorize the Purchasing Department to appropriate additional funds to the blanket purchase order agreement for Tom Malloy Corporation ("Tom Malloy"). The City has a current blanket purchase order with Tom Malloy totaling $24,995 and needs to increase the amount by an additional $20,000, which will exceed the City Manager's expenditure authority of $25,000.
As a result of the aging infrastructure and record rainfall in December 2021, the City has experienced an increase in potholes and street repairs. Public Works maintenance crews have exhausted the existing purchase order with Tom Malloy for cold pavement repair materials used for pothole repair and maintenance; therefore, we are requesting to amend the current purchase order. With the purchase of new equipment, the Right of Way crews have completed significantly more pavement work, necessitating additional pavement related purchases to complete the year.
II. RECOMMENDATION

TAKE the following actions:
1. AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Division to amend PO #22200117 for Tom Malloy Corporation for an amount not to exceed $44,995.

IV. BACKGROUND
The City of Carson maintains approximately 203 lane-miles of pavement, which requires routine maintenance and repair and sometimes total replacement. Competitive quotes were received in June 2021 for cold pavement repair materials used for pothole repair and maintenance within the City of Carson, and Tom Malloy was the lowest responsive bidder. Other quotes are included in the exhibitis.
