CONSIDER ESTABLISHING A $5,000.00 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE CAPTURE, ARREST, AND CONVICTION OF THE SUSPECT RELATED TO THE VEHICLE ARSON THAT OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 25, 2022 IN THE CITY OF CARSON (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
This item provides the City Council an opportunity to establish a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the capture, arrest, and conviction of the suspect related to the vehicle arson event that occurred in Carson on February 25, 2022.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
APPROVE the establishment of a $5,000 reward.

TAKE another action the City Council deems appropriate and that is consistent with applicable laws.
IV. BACKGROUND
Early in the morning on February 25, 2022, five cars were intentionally set on fire and security footage indicated the person may have doused the cars in a flammable liquid prior to igniting the blaze. The arson occurred on the 2700 block of East Monroe Street in Carson.
V. FISCAL IMPACT
Rewards are paid only if the information provided leads to capture, arrest, and conviction. The fiscal impact would be $5,000 should the award be paid out.
