CONSIDER ESTABLISHING A REWARD FUND FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MURDER OF RODQUECE BEEZER (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

This item is being presented to the City Council at the request of Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes and Mayor Pro Tem Jawane Hilton.

The City Council is asked to consider establishing a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Rodquece Beezer. Mr. Beezer was sitting in a vehicle a few houses from his home on the 1600 block of E. Abbottson street on Monday, January 10, 2022.

 

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

APPROVE the authorization of a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Rodquece Beezer.

TAKE another action that Council deems appropriate.

 

IV.                     BACKGROUND

On Monday, January 10, 2022, Mr. Beezer was sitting in a vehicle a few houses from his residence at the 1600 block of E. Abbottson Street when he had suffered an unknown number of gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Sheriff Department believes there is information to the murder that individuals may have. Ms. Beezer grew up in Carson and was a resident of the City.

V.                     FISCAL IMPACT

The finance department tracks reward funds as directed by the City Council. Funds will be appropriated and distributed in the event that the eligible person(s) claim the reward and the City Council directs the disbursement of funds.
