CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION 21-165, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING A REVISED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY ADMINISTRATOR NON-POTABLE WATER AND A TITLE CHANGE TO STORMWATER ENGINEER (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
When vacancies occur, they preset staff with the ideal time to enhance job specs to reflect current needs based upon industry trends, community needs, technological advancements and business evolution. At this time, staff is presenting the updated Sustainability Administrator Non-Potable Water job spec with a title change to Stormwater Engineer to reflect current City needs.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 21-165, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CIITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING A REVISED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY ADMINISTRATOR NON-POTABLE WATER AND A TITLE CHANGE TO STORMWATER ENGINEER.”

IV. BACKGROUND
This vacancy exists as a result of a staff resignation within the Division. The Public Works Department is responsible for providing the City of Carson a safe, clean, and healthy environment. Through the design, construction, maintenance, and management of the municipal infrastructure system, Public Works seeks to enhance the overall quality of life for the community. The Engineering Division is responsible for planning, organizing, and reviewing private development, property acquisition, traffic and transportation engineering; approving plans, estimates and contract documents for major Public Works structures and projects such as the City’s Five-Year Capital Improvement Program. Staff completed the Meet & Confer with CPSA/SEIU 721 on December 2, 2021 and both parties are in agreement on the proposed Stormwater Engineer job spec.
V. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the General Fund.
