CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 21-164, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING AMENDED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES MANAGER (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

When vacancies occur, they present staff with the ideal time to enhance job specs to reflect current needs based upon industry trends, community needs, technological advancements and business evolution.  At this time, staff is presenting this amended Public Safety Services Manager job spec to reflect current needs in the City Manager’s Office Public Safety Division.

 

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 21-164, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING AMENDED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES MANAGER."

IV.                     BACKGROUND

This vacancy exists as a result of a staff retirement in the City Manager’s Office Public Safety Division.  The Public Safety Division is responsible for developing and administering programs designed to enhance public safety and crime prevention by providing oversight of the City's law enforcement program and directing the City's Code Enforcement and Parking Enforcement Detail in the enforcement of the Municipal Code/City Charter and all City Ordinances.  Staff completed the Meet & Confer with AME on November 16, 2021 and both parties are in agreement on the proposed Public Safety Services Manager job spec.

 

V.                     FISCAL IMPACT

There is no impact to the General Fund.
