CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 21-163, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING REVISED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR EQUIPMENT SERVICE WORKER (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

When vacancies occur, they present staff with the ideal time to enhance job specs to reflect current needs based upon industry trends, community needs, technological advancements and business evolution.  At this time, staff is presenting this updated Equipment Service Worker job spec to reflect current needs in the Public Works Right of Way Division.

 

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 21-163, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING REVISED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION FOR EQUIPMENT SERVICE WORKER.”

IV.                     BACKGROUND

This vacancy exists as a result of a staff resignation in the Right of Way Division.  The Public Works Right of Way Division is responsible for repairs of streets, sidewalks and maintaining the city’s fleet of vehicles and equipment; as well as signage, pavement markings and striping, street sweeping, graffiti removal, materials abatement, and solid waste and recycling management.  Staff completed the Meet & Confer with AFSCME 809 on November 16, 2021 and both parties are in agreement on the proposed Equipment Service Worker job spec.

 

V.                     FISCAL IMPACT

There is no impact to the General Fund.
