CONSIDER APPROVING RESOLUTION 21-146 DESIGNATING ELECTIONS OFFICIAL (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

This item transmits a Resolution for the City Council to designate an elections official for the City of Carson.
At the June 15, 2021 City Council meeting, the City Council adopted Resolution 21-078 designating the Chief Deputy City Clerk as the City's Elections Official in light of the absence of a City Clerk.
The Chief Deputy City Clerk resigned from their position on October 18, 2021 and the City of Carson is required to designate an elections official pursuant to Elections code Section 320.
Resolution 21-146 is being introduced to the City Council to comply with this requirement by designating the current Assistant to the City Manager as the City's elections official.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution 21-146 "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNATING AN ELECTIONS OFFICIAL FOR THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF CARSON ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2021 FOR ELECTIONS OF A COUNCIL MEMBER AND CITY CLERK AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA"

IV. BACKGROUND
