CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A UTILITY RELOCATION AND REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CARSON AND METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (MWD) FOR THE COSTS OF RELOCATING MWD'S UTILITY EQUIPMENT (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Project No. 1606 (formerly known as Project No. 1003): 223rd Street Widening and Pavement Rehabilitation from Wilmington Avenue to the East City limit is one of the City's Capital Improvements Program (CIP) projects adopted for FY2020-21. The project includes pavement rehabilitation, tree removal and replacement, concrete reconstruction (such as curb, gutter and sidewalks), and the widening of a portion of the street starting at 1,500 feet east of the centerline of Wilmington Avenue going east approximately 1,056 feet in length. The project also includes the relocation of MWD's utility equipment that is located within the Project area and includes a utility vent stack and appurtenant equipment.

The purpose of this Agreement is to provide the term and means by which MWD shall reimburse the City of Carson for the relocation of such utility equipment. Staff requests that the City Council approve the Agreement between the City and MWD.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

1. APPROVE the Utility Relocation and Reimbursement Agreement between the City of Carson and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for the costs of relocating MWD's utility equipment.

2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute the Utility Relocation and Reimbursement Agreement between the City of Carson and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, following approval by the City Attorney.
