CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NOS. 21-116, 21-117 AND 21-118 AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING AMENDED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATIONS FOR SENIOR BUS DRIVER, FULL-TIME BUS DRIVER AND PART-TIME BUS DRIVER (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
When department needs occur, they present staff with the ideal time to enhance job specs to reflect current needs based upon industry trends, community needs, technological advancements and business evolution. At this time, staff is presenting amended Senior Bus Driver, Full-Time Bus Driver and Part-Time Bus Driver job specs to reflect current state required certification needs for bus drivers in the Community Services Department's Transportation Division.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 21-116, Resolution No. 21-117 and Resolution No. 21-118, "RESOLUTIONS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING AMENDED JOB CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATIONS FOR SENIOR BUS DRIVER, FULL-TIME BUS DRIVER AND PART-TIME BUS DRIVER."

IV. BACKGROUND
The proposed language in these amended job specs has been added to address the state of California certification required for bus drivers in the Community Services Department's Transportation Division. The Transportation Division is responsible for providing certain citywide transportation services, specialized elderly and disabled transit, city-sponsored excursions, transit support of city park programs, and regional air quality issues. Staff completed the Meet & Confer with AFSCME Local 809 on August 26, 2021 and both parties are in agreement on the proposed job specs.
V. FISCAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the General Fund.
