I. SUMMARY

On December 3, 2019, the City Council approved the formation of a Complete Count Committee for Carson in support of the 2020 Census and in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Census Bureau.
Tonight, the City Council is asked to consider approving the formation of an Ad Hoc Committee that will be instrumental in providing direction and oversight to the Complete Count Committee in support of the 2020 Census.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

APPROVE the formation of a two member Ad Hoc Committee and appointments to provide direction and oversight while discussing matters related to the Complete Census Count Committee.

IV. BACKGROUND

On December 3, 2019, the City Council approved the formation of a Complete Count Committee for Carson in support of the 2020 Census and in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Census Bureau. The Committee will consist of volunteers and organizations who desire to volunteer their time and efforts for the U.S. Census that takes place in April of 2020.
In an effort to maximize strategic planning and logistics for volunteers of the Complete Count Committee, an Ad Hoc Committee is being recommended to provide the necessary direction and oversight related to matters of the Census.
Tonight, the City Council is asked to consider approving the formation of an Ad Hoc Committee for the Complete Count Committee in Carson to support the 2020 Census and to make appointments to the Ad Hoc Committee.


V. FISCAL IMPACT

Creation of an Ad Hoc Committee will require allocation of staff time. No other foreseen expenses will be incurred.
