CONSIDER ENTERING INTO A LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINGUEZ HILLS FOUNDATION TO PERMIT THE USE OF THREE CITY PARKS FOR THE PRAXIS ART ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (CITY COUNCIL)
Body
I. SUMMARY
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation (CSUDHF), via the University’s Art Department, has been providing the PRAXIS Art Engagement Program since the fall of 2018 at Del Amo Park, Carson Park and Dolphin Park. This endeavor offers free afterschool art programing and mentoring to the City’s youth. Praxis is currently funded by a Cultural Arts grant; however, this support expires at the end of December. This year, CSUDHF was awarded a grant from the California Arts Council through its Funding Creative California Communities initiative to underwrite the Praxis Program. Tonight, the City Council is asked to consider entering into a license agreement that would permit the use of the three parks so that this program can continue.

IV. BACKGROUND
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation (CSUDHF) is a non-profit auxiliary organization. CSUDHF, via the University’s Art Department, provides the PRAXIS Art Engagement Program that provides an artistic outlet for youth and local communities to aspire and dream, while cultivating pride and specificity of place. This endeavor is offered at Carson Park, Del Amo Park, and Dolphin Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, and 4:45 PM to 5:45 PM. The art classes are run by one art instructor and two student aides per site. Currently supported via a Cultural Arts grant, this funding source expires at the end of December 2019.

Tonight, the City Council is asked to consider entering into a license agreement with the CSUDHF that would allow the use of the three parks so that this program can continue.
