CONSIDER ENTERING INTO A LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, DOMINGUEZ HILLS FOUNDATION TO PERMIT THE USE OF THREE CITY PARKS FOR THE PRAXIS ART ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation (CSUDHF), via the University's Art Department, has been providing the PRAXIS Art Engagement Program since the fall of 2018 at Del Amo Park, Carson Park and Dolphin Park. This endeavor offers free afterschool art programing and mentoring to the City's youth. Praxis is currently funded by a Cultural Arts grant; however, this support expires at the end of December. This year, CSUDHF was awarded a grant from the California Arts Council through its Funding Creative California Communities initiative to underwrite the Praxis Program. Tonight, the City Council is asked to consider entering into a license agreement that would permit the use of the three parks so that this program can continue.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE entering into a license agreement with California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation to permit the use of Carson Park, Del Amo Park, and Dolphin Park for the PRAXIS Art Engagement Program for the term of January 2020 through May 2021.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute the agreement, following approval as to form by the City Attorney.

The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation (CSUDHF) is a non-profit auxiliary organization.
