SUBJECT:
Title
CONSIDER APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH PHILIPS LIFELINE FOR THE EMERGENCY ALERT RESPONSE SYSTEM (EARS) PROGRAM (CITY COUNCIL)

Body
I. SUMMARY

The Emergency Alert Response System (EARS) is a state-of-the-art medical communications and personal security system that assures a quick and efficient response to any emergency that may occur in the home of a Carson senior. For more than ten years, the City of Carson's Senior Assisted Living Program has offered this service to ensure that seniors over the age of 60 can continue to live independently and safely. The City initially provided this service through partnership with Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Long Beach Memorial later transferred the program to Philips Lifeline, which necessitated the development and execution of a separate agreement with Philips Lifeline, which staff now presents to the City Council for approval.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

1. APPROVE the contract with Philips Lifeline for Emergency Alert Response System (EARS) program services in the amount of $21,721.00.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute the contract with Philips Lifeline.

Body
III. ALTERNATIVES

TAKE another action the City Council deems appropriate.
