CONSIDER AND DISCUSS A PROCESS FOR GROUNDBREAKING AND RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONIES

I. SUMMARY
During the July 16, 2019 regular City Council meeting Mayor Pro Tem Hicks and Councilmembers Davis-Holmes and Dear called for a special City Council meeting to discuss this matter.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. CONSIDER and PROVIDE direction.
2. DIRECT staff to review City procedures for Ground Breaking and Ribbon Cutting events in which the City is a participant and return to the City Council with a recommended policy if warranted.

TAKE any other action Council deems appropriate.
IV. BACKGROUND
Groundbreaking and Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies are important to the City of Carson. They provide a way to kick-off the start of construction or the grand opening of a business entity that is locating in Carson. These ceremonies are a way for residents and the business community to celebrate an important milestone with that entity and to welcome it to the community.
