CONSIDER APPROVING RESOLUTION NO. 19-133, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR STATEWIDE PARK DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS" (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
The Community Services Department, Recreation Division, would like to apply for a Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program grant to update and enhance several areas within the newly-renamed Foisia Park. Tonight, the City Council is asked to approve Resolution No. 19-133 that will permit the submission of the City's grant application.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 19-133, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR STATEWIDE PARK DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION PROGRAM GRANT FUNDS."
2. APPROVE the addition of this project to the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program.

1. DO NOT APPROVE the application.
2. TAKE any other action the City Council deems appropriate.
IV. BACKGROUND
Administered by State of California Department of Parks and Recreation, Office of Grants and Local Services, the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program funds projects that create a new park, expand an existing park, or renovate an existing park. Applicants can request up to $8,500,000.00 to fund their desired project, and it must be completed by March 20, 2022.
Foisia Park is in need of updating and enhanced amenities. Staff proposes that any funds awarded the City be used on the following improvements:
* Construct a new snack bar and picnic shelters
* Remodel existing restrooms
* Install ADA walkways paths throughout the park
* Add outdoor fitness stations
* Replace and install new outdoor baseball scoreboards
