CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 19-128, SETTING A DATE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING TO FURTHER DISCUSS OVERSIZED VEHICLE ORDINANCE NO. 18-1815 (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

During the June 4, 2019 Council meeting the City Council requested this matter be added to this evenings agenda to further discuss Oversized Vehicle Ordinance No. 18-1815.
California Government Code ? 37421 et. seq. requires that the City first set a date of the public hearing at which the public may provide testimony regarding the Oversized Vehicle Ordinance. Resolution 19-1928 sets a Public Hearing date for July 16, 2019.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 19-128, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, PURSUANT TO CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 37421 ET. SEQ. SETTING A DATE FOR DISCUSSION OF THE CURRENT OVERSIZED VEHICLE ORDINANCE NO. 18-1815."

1. DISCUSS and provide DIRECTION of Oversized Vehicle Ordinance No. 18-1815.
2. TAKE another action deemed appropriate by the City Council.


IV. BACKGROUND

On November 7, 2018, City Council adopted an amended ordinance that would restrict the parking of all oversized vehicles anywhere in the City, with the exception of oversized vehicles that are eligible to obtain a residential parking permit. The City had received numerous complaints from residents and businesses concerning oversized vehicles parking for extended times in their neighborhoods to include illegal dumping of trash and human waste.
The City has been working proactively with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to combat these issues while ensuring the health and safety of its residents.
