CONSIDER PROVIDING DIRECTION ON ACCEPTING NEW CANNABIS APPLICATIONS (CITY COUNCIL) (PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION)

I. SUMMARY
Pu(rsuant to the Article VI, Chapter 15, Commercial Cannabis Operations Regulatory Program, of the Carson Municipal Code (CMC), four cannabis centers are permitted in the City. City Council has already approved two cannabis permits. The City is currently accepting applications for the remaining two centers. To date, staff has not received new cannabis applications for the two remaining centers.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
CONSIDER providing direction on accepting new cannabis applications.

PROVIDE other direction to staff as deemed appropriate by the City Council.
IV. BACKGROUND
Commercial cannabis centers may include indoor cultivation, mixed-light cultivation, manufacturing, testing and/or (wholesale) distribution. Applications for centers accepted by the City are reviewed by staff and City consultants and are presented to the Cannabis Permit Committee for their recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council.
