CONSIDERATION OF THE USE OF THE TWO REDUCED-COSTS EVENT PERMITS AT THE DIGNITY HEALTH SPORTS PARK FOR 2019 (CITY COUNCIL)

Body
I. SUMMARY

Section 4.5.2 (d) of the Disposition and Development Agreement (DDA) between the City of Carson and Anschutz Southern California Sports Complex, LLC, outlines the stipulations for the City's usage of the Dignity Health Sports Park stadium facilities. The City is allowed two reduced-cost facility uses per year for public events that are beneficial to the City.
Pursuant to Council Policy 1.1, staff is placing this item on the agenda for the City Council to determine whether the Autism Awareness Day and 5k Run/Walk should be one of the two reduced-cost uses (Exhibit No. 1). The city's therapeutic recreation staff hosts the annual Autism Awareness Day and 5k Run/Walk at Veterans Park. The event has outgrown this location with over 600 participants last year and an anticipated 1,000 participants this year. The event is scheduled for April 6, 2019.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

DISCUSS and SELECT which organizations/events will benefit from of the reduced-costs event permits at the Dignity Health Sports Park for 2019.

IV. BACKGROUND

City's Reduced-Cost Use of Facilities
On October 16, 2012, the City Council approved Council Policy and Procedure 1.1 designating the City Council as the decision making body for the City of Carson as it relates to the identifying the City's two uses with reduced-cost rate. This policy allows the City Council to decide which groups would be the recipients of the two reduced-cost uses.
Community Use of Facilities
