CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION 19-002 RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2018 DECLARING THE RESULTS FOR MEASURE CA (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

The General Municipal Election was conducted on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk certified the returns of the election on December 3, 2018 and the Board of Supervisors received the presentation of canvass on December 4, 2018. Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10263, the governing body shall adopt a resolution reciting the facts of the election and the other matters that are enumerated.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

1. WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 19-002, "A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Carson, California Reciting the Fact of the General Municipal Election Held on November 6, 2018, Declaring the Result of Measure CA, Adoption of City Charter and Such Matters as Provided by Law."

2. DIRECT the City Clerk or her designee to cause the adopted Measure CA to be recorded and submitted to the California Secretary of State pursuant to Government Code Sections 34459 and 34460.

IV. BACKGROUND

On August 7, 2018, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 18-104 ordering submission of a measure (City Charter - Measure CA) to the electors of the City.
On November 6, 2018, the General Municipal Election was conducted, and the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk certified the results of the election on December 3, 2018. The Board of Supervisors accepted the presentation of canvass on December 4, 2018.
