SUMMARY OF FUNDING AND MODIFICATIONS FOR EVENTS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2019 (CITY COUNCIL)

Body
I. SUMMARY

During preparations for the Fiscal Year 2018/19 budget, the City Council considered and approved funding for a number of special events. Since then, additional funding appropriations were made to programs such as the Veterans Day Celebration, the Tree Lighting and Winterfest, the Nate Riddick Volunteer Recognition Banquet, Cinco de Mayo, and Philippine Independence Day. Tonight, the Mayor is requesting a review of current funding for all City special events scheduled for calendar year 2019 in order to consider any budget modifications to these programs. Additionally, staff suggestions to consolidate a number of events in order to increase their respective impact are presented for the City Council's consideration. Finally, with the recent decision to recognize International Women's Day, staff is requesting direction regarding whether or not an event will be presented, and, should the City Council authorize a program, allocate funds in support of the event.

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE one or more of the following actions:
1. CONSIDER additional funding in the amounts recommended in Exhibit No. 1.
2. CONSIDER maintaining current special event budget levels as shown in Exhibit No. 1.
3. DISCUSS and PROVIDE direction to staff regarding presenting an International Women's Day event.
4. CONSIDER recommendations to consolidate a number of special events as detailed in Exhibit No. 2.
5. DISCUSS and PROVIDE direction to staff regarding special event funding for calendar year 2019.
