A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, CONFIRMING THE APRIL 19, 2016, ACTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN, RESOLUTION NO. 77-111, BY ADOPTING A JOB CLASSIFICATION FOR PARKING CONTROL OFFICER IN THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Due to changes by the State legislature, the City Council approved the addition of the Parking Control Officer job classification specification (Exhibit 2). At the time of approval, a Resolution was not issued. This Resolution will provide the confirmation required by CalPERS for the compensation increase to ensure wages are not challenged upon retirement.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 18-099, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Carson, confirming the April 19, 2016, action of the City Council amending the classification plan, Resolution No. 77-111, by adopting a job classification for Parking Control Officer in the City Manager's Office.

IV. BACKGROUND

On April 19, 2016, the City Council approved the job description for Parking Control Officer with a Salary Range 326 ($3,375.00 - $4,298.00) of the AFSCME MOU, authorized the City Manager to initiate recruitment for the Parking Control Officer positions and to discontinue the contract with American Guard Services (Exhibit 3).

Since the approval, the City's parking control program has been successful and provides a consistent revenue stream. An additional Parking Control Officer position has been added to the budget for FY18/19.
