CONSIDER ESTABLISHING A REWARD FUND FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MURDER OF CARSON RESIDENT AARON PRITCHARD (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

The City Council is asked to consider establishing a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Aaron Pritchard.

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

APPROVE the authorization of a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for the murder of Carson resident, Aaron Pritchard.

TAKE another action Council deems appropriate.

 

IV.                     BACKGROUND

On May 16, 2016, approximately 7:45pm, Mr. Pritchard was among friends in front of 1614 E. Gladwick Street when he was shot multiple times by another adult, male. It is believed that there were several witnesses to this murder however, the homicide detectives have been unsuccessful in their efforts to have the witnesses come forward.  Mr. Pritchard was only 20 years old. His parents are long-time residents of the City of Carson.

V.                     FISCAL IMPACT

The finance department tracks reward funds as directed by the City Council. Funds will be appropriated and distributed in the event that the eligible person(s) claim the reward and the City Council directs the disbursement of funds.
