I. SUMMARY

Staff is requesting approval to apply for an Urban Greening Grant State offered through the California Natural Resources Agency. The Agency requires the adoption of a resolution by the City Council authorizing submittal and administration of applications for the grant. Resolution No. 18-039 authorizes the City Manager to submit applications and administer the grant documents (Exhibit No. 1).

II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 18-039, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF CARSON FOR FUNDING FROM THE URBAN GREENING GRANT."

DO NOT ADOPT Resolution No. 18-039 however, a resolution is required as part of the City's grant application.


IV. BACKGROUND

The State of California has adopted a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction programs, which include the collection of "cap and trade" revenues from industries, utilities and other major sources of GHG emissions statewide. The cap and trade revenues are distributed to various state agencies to award to qualifying communities in the form of grants.
The California Natural Resources Agency administers a grant program for urban greening efforts to urban communities. These grants play a significant role in meeting the state's greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets and if awarded to Carson would
