FURTHER DISCUSSION SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 1, 2017 ON THE CURRENT CITY OF CARSON HIRING FREEZE (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
During the June 20, 2017 City Council meeting the City Council adopted the FY 17/18 budget. The adopted budget for the General Fund included net deficit activity which, of course, reduces the General Fund balance. Moreover, the City Council approved Resolution No. 17-079 declaring a fiscal crisis.
As one mechanism for savings, the adopted FY17/18 budget included a hiring freeze. This item is on the agenda to inform the public that the Council will have further discussion on the specifics of the hiring freeze during the City Council meeting scheduled for August 1, 2017.
