APPROVAL OF $10,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF THE INDIVIDUAL(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEATING OF FRANK BALTIZAR HERNANDEZ WHICH RESULTED IN HIS DEATH  (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

City of Carson resident Frank Baltizar Hernandez was brutally attacked on May31, 2017 and    succumbed to his injuries on June 7, 2017. The City Council has asked that a reward be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless act.

 

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

1.                     The City Council approves a $10,000 reward

2.                     The City Council takes other action it deems appropriate

2.                     Take additional action related to the reward by reducing or increasing the reward.

 

1.                     IV.                     BACKGROUND

On May 31, 2017, City of Carson resident Frank Baltizar was brutally attacked while he was taking a walk in the City. The beating he received was so brutal that he passed away from the injuries on June 7, 2017. The City Council is committed to ensuring residents can reside in a safe environment in Carson and offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for this senseless crime to ensure the residents are safe.

 

The City Council has taken similar action in the past and currently there are seven (7) active rewards still being offered totaling $125,000. Addition of a reward for  Frank Baltizar Hernandez will bring the total active cases to eight (8) with a total of $135,000 still being offered (see Exhibit 1).
