50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS AND CONSIDER RESOLUTION NO. 17-048, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARSON CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 BUDGET IN THE GENERAL FUND AND SPECIAL EVENTS FUND, TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 IN PREPARATION FOR THE CITY'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
Mayor Robles would like to appoint additional members to the 50th anniversary celebration committee.
On July 19, 2016, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 16-087 which set aside $50,000 of the Unassigned General Fund balance for future expenditures for community activities in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the City's incorporation. In preparation for the 50th anniversary, expenditures will need to be made prior to June 30, 2017. Therefore, staff requests the Council appropriate the set-aside fund balance.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. CONSIDER making additional appointments to the 50th anniversary celebration committee, by Mayor Albert Robles with the approval of a majority of the entire City Council present.
2. ADOPT Resolution No. 17-048, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARSON CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 BUDGET IN THE GENERAL FUND AND SPECIAL EVENTS FUND.

PROVIDE alternative direction to staff in regards to the City's 50th anniversary celebration.
IV. BACKGROUND
Traditionally the city has marked the city's anniversary with special activities every five to ten years. The year 2018 will mark the city's 50th anniversary - the golden anniversary of the city's incorporation. In February 1968, the city was incorporated as a General Law city and adopted the theme of 'Future Unlimited'.
V. FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated Unassigned General Fund balance is currently $0, as reported on March 21, 2017. However, the City Council took action to set-aside...
