CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS TO THE COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS BY MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

This item is on the agenda at the request of Mayor Robles to continue to consider and appoint new commissioners, committee and board members in accordance with the Carson Municipal Code (CMC).
On March 7, 2017, the following appointments were made:
Sarai Sanchez was appointed to the Youth Member position on the Human Relations Commission;
Kenneth Phillips was appointed to the Economic Development Commission;
Susan Giacello was appointed to the regular position on the Public Safety Commission, thereby, creating a vacancy of the Public Safety Commission, Alternate Member No. 3 position;
Yolanda Fielder was appointed to the Women's Issues Commission;
Nancy Silva was appointed to the Women's Issues Commission;
Derek Moody was appointed to the Technology Advancement and Innovation Commission.
On March 8, 2017, Diane Dizon notified the City Clerk that she was declining her appointment on the Bullying Prevention Commission effective immediately.
On March 8, 2017, Henry Johnson notified the City Clerk that he was declining his appointment on the Cultural Arts Commission effective immediately.
On March 13, 2017, staff notified the City Clerk that Deputy Fredrick Noya is no longer able to serve on the Bullying Prevention Commission.
On March 14, 2017, Omar Jones notified the City Clerk that he is resigning from the Human Relations Commission effective March 14, 2017.
On March 16, 2017 Melissa Lopez notified the City Clerk that she is resigning from the Bullying Prevention Commission effective immediately.
On March 23, 2017, Marina Madrigal notified the City Clerk that she is declining her appointment as Alternate Member No. 1 on the Women's Issues Commission effective immediately.
