APPROVE CONTRACT AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE NORMAN A. TRAUB ASSOCIATES CONTRACT (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Effective July 1, 2015, the City entered into a three-year contract services agreement with Norman A. Traub and Associates (Exhibit 1) to provide personnel investigation services to the City of Carson. The contract sum has been exceeded; therefore, the contract requires an amendment to increase the contract sum for the remaining duration of the contract. The contract amendment is being presented to the City Council for approval (Exhibit 2).


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE amendment No. 1 of the contract with Norman A. Traub and Associates.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute the contract amendment to the Norman A. Traub and Associates contract.

The City Council may take any other action deemed appropriate.

IV. BACKGROUND

Effective July 1, 2015, the City entered into a three-year contract services agreement with Norman A. Traub and Associates to provide personnel investigation services in the amount not to exceed $24,000.00. Due to an unexpected high volume of personnel issues that resulted in personnel investigations, the contract amount of $24,000 has been exceeded.

The contract requires an amendment and approval of the City Council to increase the contract sum to pay outstanding invoices for services already performed by Norman Traub and Associates.
Additionally, the City is still in need of Norm Traub and Associates personnel investigative services for the remaining term of the contract, until June 30, 2018. The contract amount needs to be amended by an additional $85,000.00 for a grand total of $109,000.00. Therefore the contract amendment is being presented to the City Council for approval.
