I. SUMMARY

This item is on the agenda at the request of Mayor Robles.
On November 8, 2016, the City of Carson conducted its General Municipal Election. Various Carson Municipal Code Sections states (in part) that Commission members appointments, "...shall expire at midnight on the last day of the calendar month in which the next general election after the member's appointment..."

In an effort to align Commission, Committee and Board (CCB) appointments and terms with the change of the General Municipal Election, Mayor Albert Robles vacated all appointees to approximately 16 CCB's, which was unanimously ratified by the City Council on November 14, 2016.

The Mayor and City Council anticipates considering appointments and new terms to all CCB's in January, 2017. All interested individuals including current commissioners, committee members, and board members were invited to submit a CCB appointment application for consideration which will be forwarded to the Mayor and City Council under separate cover.

IV. BACKGROUND

The City of Carson conducted its General Municipal Election on November 8, 2016. In general, with the exception of approximately five Commission, Committee, and Boards (CCB), most of the CCBs rely on the Carson Municipal Code which states (in part) that Commission members appointments, "...shall expire at midnight on the last day of the calendar month in which the next general election after the member's appointment..." Therefore, the majority of the CCB members have a term ending November 30, 2016.
