IV.                     BACKGROUND

On April 7, 2015, at the recommendation of the City Council Personnel Committee, the City Council approved the change of the Code Enforcement Officer and the Code Enforcement Supervisor titles to Code Compliance Officer and Code Compliance Supervisor.

In line with the duties and responsibilities of these positions and industry standard, staff recommends the adoption of the former titles of Code Enforcement Officer and Code Enforcement Supervisor.  Accordingly staff has prepared the job specifications for Code Enforcement Officer (Exhibit No. 2) and Code Enforcement Supervisor (Exhibit No. 3) to include the recommended titles.  No other changes to the classification specifications are recommended at this time.

In accordance with the City’s Municipal Code, adjustments to classification specifications must be approved by the City Council.  Accordingly, Resolution No. 16-133, adopting the titles of Code Enforcement Officer and Code Enforcement Supervisor are being presented for City Council approval.
