CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS BY MAYOR ROBLES, TO, AND/OR REMOVAL FROM COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS BY MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY


On June 8, 2016, this item was on the agenda at the request of Mayor Albert Robles who subsequently continued this item to the next Council meeting.

The recent activities related to commission, committee, and board appointments are as follows:

On March 1, 2016, Mayor Robles announced Mobilehome Park Rental Review Board (MRRB) Member, Dina Enrique had three unexcused absences, therefore, was removed from the MRRB and directed City Clerk staff to post the 10-day vacancy notice.

At the same meeting, Mayor Robles appointed individuals to the following commissions and boards to which were ratified by the City Council:

Pete Ramos, Public Works Commission (Exhibit No. 1, pg.14.)
Helen Maxwell, Women's Issues Commission (Exhibit No. 1, pg. 17.)
Al Kenneth Ramirez, Veterans Affairs Commission (Exhibit No. 1, pg. 20.)
Duane Gough, Community Civic Engagement Board (Exhibit No. 1, pg. 25.)
Jerry Kelly, Bullying Prevention Commission (Exhibit No. 1, pg. 26.)

The appointment of Helen Maxwell to the vacant regular member position on the Women's Issues Commission created a vacancy of the Alternate Member No. 1 position. Subsequently, Mayor Robles directed the City Clerk to post the vacancy notice.

On March 23, 2016, the City Clerk's Office received a letter from Olivia Verrett wherein she resigned from the Women's Issues Commission due to her conflict of schedule.

On April 7, 2016, staff notified the City Clerk's Office that Gary Zinger withdrew his position on the Environmental Commission due to other commitments.

On April 25, 2016, the City Clerk's Office received a letter from Jasmine Miles wherein she resigned from the Youth Commission since she will be attending college.
