Second reading of ORDINANCE NO. 24-2410, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 12 (INTERFERENCE WITH SPECIAL EVENTS) TO ARTICLE III (PUBLIC SAFETY) OF THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROHIBIT INTERFERENCE WITH SPECIAL EVENTS” (CITY COUNCIL)

I.                     SUMMARY

On May 7, 2024, under Item No. 37 of the City Council Agenda, the City Council voted 5-0 to introduce Ordinance No. 24-2410. This item transmits a request for City Council to conduct a Second Reading and adopt Ordinance No. 24-2410.

II.                     RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

TAKE the following action:

1.                     CONDUCT a Second Reading by title only and with full reading waived, and ADOPT, Ordinance No. Ordinance 24-2410, entitled “AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 12 (INTERFERENCE WITH SPECIAL EVENTS) TO ARTICLE III (PUBLIC SAFETY) OF THE CARSON MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROHIBIT INTERFERENCE WITH SPECIAL EVENTS”

TAKE any other action the City Council deems appropriate that is consistent with the requirements of the law.

IV.                     BACKGROUND

At the May 7, 2024, Council Meeting, the City of Carson introduced Ordinance No. 24-2410, adding regulations to specifically address what constitutes prohibited interference with such special events. The City Council voted 5-0 to introduce Ordinance No. 24-2410 for first reading.

V.                     FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact associated with the adoption of this Ordinance.
