CONSIDER APPROVING PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND ESTIMATES AND RECORDING A "NOTICE OF EXEMPTION" IN THE OFFICE OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY CLERK AND WITH THE STATE CLEARING HOUSE FOR PROJECT 1632 (COMMUNITY CENTER COILING WALL), PURSUANT TO SECTION 15301 OF THE CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT GUIDELINES (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY

Project No.1632: Community Center Coiling Wall is part of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and funded by the General Fund.
The project includes removing and replacing the coiling wall in the Community Center, including upgrading the existing structural components.
The preliminary Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for the improvements to Project No.1632 have been completed and are ready for construction bids. The PS&E are on file in the City Engineer's Office. The estimated construction cost is $2,000,000.00.
The City Council is requested to approve the PS&E and authorize staff to record the Notice of Exemption to satisfy the California Environmental Quality Act's (CEQA) requirements.


II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation

TAKE the following actions:
1. APPROVE the plans, specification, & estimates, and order the work for Project No. 1632: Community Center Coiling Wall.

2. AUTHORIZE staff to advertise the work and call for construction bids for Project No. 1632: Community Center Coiling Wall.

3. MAKE the California Environmental Quality Act finding that the proposed City Hall Bathroom and Breakroom Renovations are categorically exempt pursuant to Section 15301 of the California Environmental Quality Act guidelines.

4. AUTHORIZE staff to record the "Notice of Exemption" in the office of the Los Angeles County Clerk and with the State Clearing House at the Governor's Office of Planning and Research for Project No. 1632: Community Center Coiling Wall.
