CONSIDER ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION 24-055, APPROVING MEASURE M FUNDING AGREEMENT AMENDMENT NO. 1 BETWEEN LOS ANGELES COUNTY METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (LACMTA) AND THE CITY OF CARSON FOR PROJECT NO. 1687: CARSON STREET INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM COMMUNICATIONS PROJECT FROM FIGUEROA STREET TO I-405 NORTHBOUND RAMPS, LACMTA PROJECT # MM5507.02, FTIP # LA9919028

I. SUMMARY
The City of Carson (City) is undertaking Project No. 1687, Carson Street Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Communications Project from Figueroa Street to I-405 Northbound Ramps (Exhibit No. 1).
The project involves the installation of CCTV cameras and appurtenant hardware at the intersections that will provide connections between City Hall and each traffic signal. The project will provide communication needed to connect all the traffic signals along the identified Carson Street corridor for the purposes of traffic signal synchronization, traffic management, surveillance, and traffic monitoring.
Grant funds were awarded to the City to cover 100% of the estimated cost of this project from Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) Measure "M" funds in the amount of $700,000.00 in accordance with the terms of a Funding Agreement (Exhibit No. 2). These costs will be spread out over a two-year period for a total project cost of $700,000.00.
Amendment No. 1 to the Funding Agreement (Exhibit No. 3) extends the lapsing date of FY 2020-21 funds to June 30, 2024.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
TAKE the following actions:
1. ADOPT Resolution 24-055 and APPROVE Funding Agreement Amendment No. 1 with Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority extending the project completion date to June 30, 2024.
2. AUTHORIZE the Mayor to execute Funding Agreement Amendment No. 1 following approval as to form by the City Attorney.
