CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 16-078, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 7, 2016 AND DECLARING AS CONCLUSIVE THAT MEASURE C TO EXTEND THE CARSON UTILITY USERS TAX HAS CARRIED AND PASSED BASED ON THE PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF THE VOTE (CITY COUNCIL)

I. SUMMARY
On January 19, 2016, the City Council ordered that Measure C (being a ballot measure to extend the Carson utility users tax of 2% on electric and gas utilities by seven years) be placed on the June 7, 2016 ballot at a Special Municipal Election. As of on or about June 14, 2016, the preliminary results of the canvass of the vote on Measure C are conclusive that more affirmative votes than negative votes were cast for Measure C, causing Measure C to carry and pass.
II. RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
WAIVE further reading and ADOPT Resolution No. 16-078, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 7, 2016 AND DECLARING AS CONCLUSIVE THAT MEASURE C TO EXTEND THE CARSON UTILITY USERS TAX HAS CARRIED AND PASSED BASED ON THE PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF THE VOTE."

IV. BACKGROUND
On January 19, 2016, the City Council ordered that Measure C (being a ballot measure to extend the Carson utility users tax of 2% on electric and gas utilities by seven years) be placed on the June 7, 2016 ballot at a Special Municipal Election.
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk ("RR/CC") has released and affirmed that, the preliminary results of the June 7, 2016 Special Municipal Election in the City of Carson, on or about June 14, 2016, in regards to Measure C to extend the Carson Utility Users Tax, are:
YES 69.54% 10,771
NO 30.46% 4,719
